t�s high time to put the first half of 2008 behind us. As I was out last week, it�s good to return to give you most of the singles and EP�s from the year so far that I recommend for you to check out and support. It�s the second part of the Halfway Rewind Special, and it turns out that not all that I wanted to get into the show could be accomodated, even if the show stretched once again to three hours.

July heats up as Tea Party Music and Manchildblack present Libation's Summer of Soul Series. Throughout the summer the bi-monthly event will feature resident DJ Ian Friday spinning high level global soul with an amazing line-up of guest dj's including: Osunlade (Yoruba Records), Karizma (Kohesive Productions) and more.

On Thursday, July 10th Libation will celebrate the music of Africa when Philly's own Rich Medina (Afro Disco) joins Ian on the decks. Expect to sweat as both men spin the best in Afro-Beat, Highlife, Global Soul and more in a musical tribute to "the dark continent".

Dance collective Afro Mosaic Soul, will once again host the nights festivities while MTV Art Battle Winner Concep, captures the essence of the party live on canvass.

For this amazing event, Libation will be collecting donations for NextAID. NextAid is a Los Angeles-based non-profit organization committed to developing and implementing innovative solutions to the challenges facing African children. Their mission is to promote community-driven, environmentally sustainable, economically and socially empowering responses to the AIDS orphan pandemic. On the show I wanted to start off a little melodic with a tribute to the Arthur Russell by Henrik Schwarz. This week's triple play goes to the Natu Envee Band. The producer behind this brilliant band has done production under different names like the Innocent Sorcerers & his own name Envee. Has a very nice soulful vibe. If you are a fan of Little Dragon, You might wanna hear this. Look out for some solo material from Envee in the near future. Lars Behrenroth gets a nice rerub by Version. THE FREESTYLE BLEND
Saturday 12th July

Universal Vibes is back on the second saturday of the month at The Prince, right in the heart of Brixton, on the Junction of Coldharbour Lane and Brixton Road for another Freestyle Blend Session.

The Prince is part of the fantastic new Dex Club complex, one of the leading lights in the thriving current Brixton nightlife scene. Don't let its pub-like exterior fool you. Inside beats the heart of a chunky function one soundsystem with a great dancefloor area an outdoor terrace that makes the Prince feel more like a mini club than a bar. We started this session back in November, and over the last few months its grown into a fantastic monthly session....

Taking its name from one of the in house radio shows on universal vibes, representing the eclectic deep freestyle sounds, taking in a mix of soulful beats and breaks, expect hip hop, broken beats, deep house, nu jazz and latin flavours, music without boundaries...music with universal vibes

From House (proper and deep) to Hip Hop (chunky and soulful), with a dash of broken beats, some disco, funk, soul and a whole pile of eclectic good grooves...

joining us this month is Size Doesn't Matter resident and DJ about town,Mr. Shiver..

Music has played a part in Mr Shiver's life since the age of 9 when he started playing trumpet and piano - during his teenage years he also picked up the guitar.....whilst at school he joined several bands, which played a lot of James Brown and funk covers....also a love of hip hop and house music started to develop in the late 80s/early 90s.....Turntables became the next instrument for Mr Shiver to master and this lead to hours being spent learning how to scratch and mix.......
SO - in late 2000, as part of the Unsung Heroes, Shiver released the LP 'unleashed' on Scenario records to critical acclaim and managed to license it all over the world too.....on top of that he also has done turntable work for various artists over the years.....
At the moment Shiver is a part of long running 7 inch only night 'Size Doesnt Matter' and also djs all over town playing all kinds of different music..
Recently his love of deep house music has prompted him to start collaborating with Mulletover resident and Murmur head honcho Geddes. The 'trial and error' ep on Tsuba records is hopefully the 1st of many hew releases...WATCH THIS SPACE

Set slap bang in the middle of Camden market, and overlooking the famous Camden Lock, the Lockside Lounge is one of the best spots in Camden, especially in the summertime when the huge outdoor terrace comes into its own!

We'll be utilising this outdoor area, with DJs playing summer soundtracks outside in the afternoon and a barbeque blazing all day. When the sun goes down we move inside and rock the Lockside's large dance floor until 2am, all in support of this year's Lake of Stars Festival in Malawi.

The Lake of Stars Festival was borne from a desire to raise money for a developing economy and charities and help raise the profile of Malawi as a tourist destination. The three day festival promotes Malawian artists and provides travellers and locals alike with the opportunity to enjoy fantastic live music in an exotic and beautiful location whilst directly contributing to the country's economy. For many the festival is the focal point of travelling around this beautiful country, forming part of an itinerary spanning across what Malawi has to offer. This is an experience for those ready for a real adventure. An event that brings together music-lovers from all over the world to one of the most stunning locations imaginable.

Universal Vibes continues our new east end residency at the Light bar, right next to liverpool street in the heart of Shoreditch. We're very happy to be playing here, its a fantastic loft space thats hosts Secret Sundaze and David Mancuso's Loft parties and is a great space for us to showcase our sound for 2008....in our new regular slot on the first Saturday of every month.

we are going to be keeping a firmly freestyle music policy in effect...straddling genres from House (proper and deep) to Hip Hop (chunky and soulful), with a dash of broken beats, some disco, funk, soul and a whole pile of eclectic good grooves...basically future soul music for the dancefloor..

special guest this month is Yam Who? producers, remixers & DJ'ing duo from London have recently added their magic to a line-up of stars past & present including Joss Stone, John Legend, Amp Fiddler, Chaz Jankel, Jose James, Zero 7, Azymuth, Gerald Levert, Truby Trio & Stephanie Mckay, to name just a few!

Currently finishing their debut album for Sept 08 with full 6 piece band & live show to follow.
